Hey everyone! My name is Lili, I’m from Dallas, TX, and I am a new member of the Blog Team for Women in Science Society! I am super excited to begin this journey and to share it with you all. Allow me to introduce myself, share some of my interests, dislikes and likes, and my writing style.
To get the basics out of the way, I’m a freshman majoring in biology and hope to also be pre-med! I’ve always loved science and have grown up surrounded by people working in the medical field, so I guess you could say that’s where my inspiration has come from. My dream is to become a surgical pathologist! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this type of doctor, essentially it’s the study of specimens from the human body to diagnose a disease and treat it. Typically pathologists work very closely with cancers, and cancer research has always been a big interest for me.
As for my personal life, I’m definitely the type of person who would rather stay in than go out, and the type of person who would rather hang out with a small group of people than a big group. I feel that those two things can say a lot about a person, so interpret how you wish. If I were to try and briefly describe myself I would say that I’m an anxious, indecisive, gym rat who is more of an introvert but can most definitely be extroverted. I’m sure that through my writing you all can get a better sense of who I am, but for right now that’s what I got for ya.
Speaking of writing… let’s get into it. A few things that need to be on a need-to-know basis are that I am super sarcastic (sometimes it’s hard to tell, but that’s the fun part), I absolutely suck at grammar and knowing big words, and I am a very pragmatic person. Why is this relevant? Well, basically what I’m trying to say is that a lot of what I will write about is going to be real talk. Almost like me and you are just having a deep conversation. A cool approach to blogging right? Totally relatable. (Does someone smell sarcasm?)
Anyways… I hope that this introduction wasn’t too much and that I didn’t scare anyone away. This will be a learning process for all of us and I hope to grow as a writer and a person through this experience.
